The British Gove
ment consists of the Prime Minister and other ministers, all of whom аге collectively responsible 1 for every part of the Gove

ment in the United Kingdom аrе: the legislature, the executive and the judiciary. Тhе legislature, the supreme author¬ity 5 of the country, consists of the Queen and the Parliament. The executive includes the Cabinet and other ministers of the Crown; Gove
ment departments, most of them under the control of ministers and all staffed 6 bу civil servants 7; local authorities and statutory boards 8.
The Cabinet consists of the heads of the most important Depart¬ments together with а few ministers without departments. The Prime Minister decides which ministers will bе included, but there are some, like the Foreign Secretary, whom he could not easily leave out. The Cabinet as such is not recognized bу any formal law, and has nо formal powers but only real powers.
The judiciary determines common law and interprets 9 statutes.
The structure of the Gove
ment is frequently changed as new departments set up or existing 10 departments are merged.
