CONCLUSIONS
This abstract pointed out such problems as the reasons and consequences of the Yugoslavia’s collapse. The recommended information was read and analysed and the following decisions were made out:
At the beginning of 1991 Yugoslavia was a federation of six republics: Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia-Hercehovina, Montenegro and Macedonia and two autonomous provinces: Vojvodina and Kosovo.
When the Soviet bloc collapsed, Yugoslavia was no longer of any use to the US; Yugoslavia was expendable.
Yugoslavia was a pawn in the larger chess-match between the two global superpowers during the Cold War. With the end of the Cold War superpower conflict, Yugoslavia lost its value even as a pawn, losing all economic, political, or strategic value.
Tito's death in 1980 combined with the end of Cold War rivalry and the decline of communist ideology in the rest of Europe in the 1980s lead to the severe weakening of Yugoslavia's crucial unifying factors.
The crisis came to the country and it was the serious one.
One of the most important political geographical and security political issues which is also the most diversified in its effects relates to the border.
We consider the changes of population in numbers the most important demographical alterations.
The breakup of Yugoslavia had a similarly shattering effect both on the settlement structure and on the individual cities.
For these settlements the widening of the functions is embodied in becoming centres of a previously non existing political unity.
